I see an "Unable to Activate eSIM" iPhone error message
If you're attempting to install eSIM on an iPhone or iPad, you might come across an error message that says "Unable to Activate eSIM. You can try again, or contact your carrier for assistance."
This error message can be confusing, because it says "Unable to Activate eSIM" when it's actually happening during the eSIM installation flow.
That's because Apple tries to make your life easier by attempting to activate your eSIM data package during the installation flow.
(The activation will only be successful if you're already located in the correct country or region, AND you either have Data Roaming toggled on or you're running 16.4 or later, which means you don't need Data Roaming toggled on. If you're installing a vacation eSIM while you're still at home, you will not see this message. Your device will simply complete the installation, and not activate your data package).
Because the "Unable to Activate eSIM" is appearing during the combined installation/activation flow, it usually means your device is unable to INSTALL your eSIM. This is often because you don't have a stable internet connection to download and install your eSIM (digital SIM card).
Here's how to fix this issue:
1. Make sure you have a data connection or a strong Wi-Fi signal. This is important during installation because you need to connect to aloSIM in order for us to give you the eSIM.
2. Try again to install the eSIM on your iPhone or iPad
3. If you see this message again, please contact us via email (support@alosim.com) or live chat
