While the second-generation iPhone SE and the third-generation iPhone SE both support eSIM technology, the first generation of the device doesn't. 

This is confusing for many iPhone SE users because it isn't always easy to tell which version of the device you purchased. You have to do a little digging!

If you need to know if your iPhone SE is eSIM-compatible, here's how to find out:

• Go to "Settings"
• Select "General"
• Select "About"
• Look next to "Model Number" to see which iPhone SE you have

You have an eSIM-compatible iPhone SE (3rd generation) if the model number is one of the following:

• A2595 (United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Mexico, Saudi Arabia)
• A2782 (Japan)
• A2784 (Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan)
• A2785 (China)
• A2783 (other countries and regions)

You have an eSIM-compatible iPhone SE (2nd generation) if the model number is one of the following:

• A2275 (Canada, United States)
• A2298 (China mainland)
• A2296 (other countries and regions)

If your iPhone SE has one of the following model numbers, it's a first-generation device and not available for eSIM usage:

• A1723
• A1662
• A1724
