What are the correct eSIM phone number settings for an iPhone or iPad?
Since most eSIMs are not directly attached to phone numbers, it's important to make sure your iPhone or iPad does not try to associate an incorrect phone number with an eSIM.
Settings / Cellular / eSIM / My Number
Your iPhone or iPad's cellular settings include an area called 'My Number,' and this can be confusing for customers who think they should enter something.
You should NOT enter a phone number in this field.
NOT your regular mobile phone number.
NOT the free phone number you may have redeemed from Hushed.
Since your eSIM is NOT associated with a phone number, entering a number here may actually break your eSIM and require you to get a replacement eSIM.
Settings / Cellular / Default Voice Line
It's also important to make sure your iPhone or iPad is not attempting to use your eSIM as its Default Voice Line, since your eSIM is not directly associated with a phone number.
Your Default Voice Line should ALWAYS be set to your primary/regular SIM, regardless of whether you are planning to keep this SIM active.
If you accidentally select your eSIM as your Default Voice Line, your regular phone number will not work. This could also cause issues with calling, texting, and iMessage.
