How do I install eSIM on my Google Pixel?
Ready to install your new aloSIM eSIM on any eSIM-compatible Google Pixel device? Great!
You can choose between three options:
Instant QR code installation
Network & Internet installation (QR code)
Network & Internet installation (Manual)
If you'll be using your Google Pixel eSIM for international travel, we recommend you install your eSIM while you're still at home (with a steady Wi-Fi or data connection).
Then you can prepare your device to activate your data package as soon as you've arrived.
INSTANT QR CODE INSTALLATION:
This is the fastest eSIM installation method for Google Pixel devices, and it takes less than two minutes from start to finish.
1. Open your aloSIM app and select the eSIM you wish to install
2. Scan the installation QR code and follow the on-screen prompts (see how)
3. Rename your eSIM (see how)
4. Activate your data package when you're ready to use it (see instructions)
NETWORK & INTERNET INSTALLATION (QR code):
- Open your aloSIM account, tap on the eSIM you wish to install, and select "Install your eSIM"
- You should arrive on the "QR code" tab.
If you're currently on the device where you'll be using the eSIM, tap the blue "Share Code" button to share the QR code to another device, so you can copy it from there.
(If you're currently on a computer, or a different device that will not be using the eSIM, you can just scan the code directly from your phone in a minute. - On your Google Pixel, swipe down to go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet"
- Under "SIMs" or "Mobile Network," tap the + sign or "Add a network" to add a new SIM to your Google Pixel.
- It may ask you to insert a SIM card, but select the option that says "Don't have a SIM card?" or "Download a SIM instead"
If you're asked to choose from a list of networks, just scroll down to the bottom and select "Use a different network."
If you're asked to decide if you want to use two SIMs at once, you can tap "Yes" if you plan on using aloSIM right away, and tap "No thanks" if you aren't ready to stop using your primary SIM. - Scan your eSIM's QR code (located under the "QR code" tab of "Install Your eSIM" within your aloSIM account) and confirm you want to download your aloSIM eSIM
You should now see your Google Pixel confirm that it's downloading your eSIM.
When your download is finished, you should see a confirmation screen. This means your eSIM has been successfully installed on your Google Pixel, but you won't be able to use the data until you have activated your eSIM data package (see steps below).
If you encounter an issue during your Google Pixel eSIM installation, please reach out immediately via live chat or email (support@alosim.com) so we can help, and DO NOT DELETE your eSIM since eSIMs can only be installed once, on a single device.
ACCESSING YOUR aloSIM DATA:
You can complete the following eSIM activation steps either (A) right before travel, so you avoid roaming charges from the second you arrive in a new country, or (B) when you have already arrived in the correct country/region for your eSIM data package to work.
If you have previously used a carrier travel plan (daily flat rate for data, calling, and texting on vacation), please contact your carrier and make sure it will not automatically renew when you leave the country.
Remember, you must be located in your data package's country/region in order to connect to a network and actually use your aloSIM data (because you need to reach those networks).
- On your Google Pixel, go to "Settings" then "Network & internet." (Some Google Pixel devices might also need you to select "Mobile networks.")
- Select your new eSIM (aloSIM) and toggle it on
- Make sure "Mobile data" is toggled on
- Make sure "Roaming" is also toggled on
- If you have a regular/primary SIM in your Google Pixel, now it's time to decide what you want to do with it while you use aloSIM.
Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Mobile networks" and select your primary SIM (if you have one).
OPTION 1: If you want to keep your regular phone number active for calling/texting, you need to leave your primary SIM toggled on, but "Mobile data" should be togged off (since you'll be using aloSIM for all data) and "Roaming" should be toggled off (to avoid carrier roaming charges). With this option, your mobile carrier may charge you for calls and texts that occur while you're in another country.
OPTION 2: If you want to disable your regular phone number while you travel internationally, you can toggle your primary SIM off completely. This will mean you won't be able to call/text on your regular phone number until you turn it back on, but you will avoid all international roaming fees for data, calls, and texts. - Check your network selection. Go to "Settings," then "Network & internet" (and possibly "Mobile networks," depending on your device) so you can select your eSIM. Scroll down and make sure "Automatically select network" is toggled on.
- Check that your APN is "alosim." Scroll down to tap "Access Point Names," and see if your selected APN is called "alosim." If it's not, we will walk you through how to edit your APN setting here.
Now your Google Pixel knows to use your eSIM for all data, so your new data should begin flowing within a couple of minutes once you're located in the correct country/region for this eSIM.
You should be able to go into your aloSIM app and see your eSIM now shows "ACTIVE" because you have an active data package.

NETWORK & INTERNET INSTALLATION (Manual):
- Open your aloSIM account, tap on the eSIM you wish to install, and select "Install your eSIM"
- Choose the "Manual" tab. Tap the "Copy" button to copy your activation code.
- When it asks you to scan a QR code, tap "Use Activation Code" or "Need help?" and then select "Enter it manually."
- Paste in the activation code you copied a minute ago, and tap "Continue."
(If you forgot to copy your activation code, it's located in your aloSIM account when you select your eSIM card, tap "Install Your eSIM," and choose the "Manual" tab.) - Confirm you want to download and install your eSIM, and then the process should begin.
When your download and installation have finished, you should see a confirmation screen. This means your eSIM has been successfully installed on your Google Pixel, but you won't be able to use the data until you have activated your eSIM data package (see steps below).
