Why am I running out of data so quickly?
Depending on what your device is using data for, you might be running out of data faster than you expect.
Here are a few ways to manage data usage ...
1. See which apps are wasting the most data
You might be surprised by how much data you're using 'in the background' without even realizing it. Your phone records how much data each app uses, so you can check anytime and make a plan to use less data.
2. Manage which apps are allowed to use your data
If you have apps you don't really care about, tell your phone NOT to let them use data.
If you're travelling, we recommend toggling off data usage for all apps you don't need/use on a regular basis, so they can quietly wait in the background until they can work over Wi-Fi.
3. Turn on Low Data/Data Saver mode
Your phone doesn't understand it needs to conserve data until you adjust these settings. Then it will be a bit more cautious about wasting your precious travel data.
4. Close apps when you're not using them
Some of us (it's me! Hi! I'm the problem, it's me!) are terrible about closing apps when we're not using them. Unless it's something you need all the time, make sure you don't leave apps running in the background where they can waste data.
5. Save the big 'tasks' for over Wi-Fi
It doesn't make sense to stream video over data (or have a super-long video chat) if you're trying to conserve data.
When you connect to a safe Wi-Fi network, feel free to toggle OFF your data temporarily so you make sure you aren't wasting any of it. Your phone will be forced to use Wi-Fi only, and you can toggle your data back on when you're able to leave the range of the free Wi-Fi.
We hope that helps! Reach out anytime via live chat or email (support@alosim.com) if you have questions about running through your data package too quickly.
