Yes, you can still receive SMS text messages when 'Data Roaming' is toggled off on your phone. Your SIM connected to your regular phone number must be active, and your carrier is able to roam on an available network to provide cell service.

If you are also using an eSIM for travel data, like one of our prepaid aloSIM data packages, you have two choices:

OPTION 1: Keep both SIMs active while travelling.

Make sure your eSIM is the one providing all mobile data, and keep your primary SIM on for calling and texting. (But be aware of expensive carrier fees on your next phone bill.)

OPTION 2: Only use your eSIM while travelling.

If you can survive without your regular phone number, we suggest using your eSIM for all data + toggling off your primary SIM to avoid expensive calling/texting fees.
