Wifi vs mobile data: What’s the difference?
The primary difference between WiFi and mobile data is the range that each one provides. WiFi provides a local internet connection in a small area (e.g. a coffee shop) and requires a local access point, such as a router. Mobile data, on the other hand, connects you to the internet via cell towers, allowing you to move around freely and still have an internet connection — as long as you are within your service provider’s coverage area.
Simply put, WiFi provides an internet connection within a small, fixed location. Mobile data provides an internet connection in an extensive area —wherever your mobile carrier has service.
