How to activate your Google Pixel data plan
Ready to use your data? Follow the steps below when you're about to travel so your eSIM can begin working the minute you arrive on vacation.
You must be located in your eSIM's country/region in order to connect to a network and use your data.
-
On your Google Pixel, go to "Settings" then "Network & internet" and "SIMs" (Some Google Pixel devices might call this section "Mobile networks.")
- Select your new eSIM (aloSIM) and toggle it on
- Make sure "Mobile data" is toggled on
-
Make sure "Roaming" is also toggled on
-
If you have a regular/primary SIM in your Google Pixel, now it's time to decide what you want to do with it while you use aloSIM.
Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "SIMs" and select your primary SIM (if you have one).
OPTION 1: If you want to keep your regular phone number active for calling/texting, leave your primary SIM toggled on, but toggle off "Mobile data" and "Roaming" to avoid carrier roaming charges.
⚠️ Your mobile carrier may charge you for calls and texts that occur abroad.
OPTION 2: If you want to disable your regular phone number during travel, toggle off your primary SIM. You won't be able to call/text on your regular phone number until you turn it back on, but you will avoid all roaming fees for data, calls, and texts.
When you arrive at your destination and toggle off Airplane Mode, your eSIM data plan should begin working immediately.
If your data plan doesn't connect right away, here are a few settings to double-check ...
Your APN should be 'alosim.'
Scroll down to tap "Access Point Names," and see if your selected APN is called "alosim." If it's not, we will walk you through how to edit your APN setting here.
'Automatically select network' should be toggled on.
Go to "Settings," then "Network & internet" (and possibly "Mobile networks," depending on your device) so you can select your eSIM. Scroll down and make sure "Automatically select network" is toggled on.
