Can I set up a mobile hotspot with aloSIM?
Need data? Turning your device into a mobile hotspot is the perfect way to share your internet connection with other devices (your own, or others), and you can absolutely set up a hotspot with your aloSIM data.
Just remember that it's a good idea to keep your hotspot password-protected, otherwise anyone can latch onto it and drain your data without your permission.
How to use aloSIM data for a Personal Hotspot on an iPhone or iPad:
- Make sure you've installed your eSIM and activated your aloSIM data plan so you have an internet connection to share
- Go to "Settings"
- Choose "Cellular"
- Select "Personal Hotspot"
- Make sure "Allow Others to Join" is toggled on
- Set a Wi-Fi password to protect your data
- To allow another device to use your Personal Hotspot, have the device owner search for nearby Wi-Fi networks and select the name of your device from the list
- Tell them the password to enter to gain access
- You'll see a green link in the top-left corner of your screen to remind you that someone else is using your mobile data
- Be sure to keep an eye on your aloSIM data balance, just in case your hotspot generosity is draining your data package faster than you'd like
- When you'd like to stop sharing your data, go back to "Settings" then "Cellular," then "Personal Hotspot" and toggle "Allow Others to Join" to off
How to use aloSIM data for a Mobile Hotspot on a Samsung Galaxy device:
- Make sure you've installed your eSIM and activated your aloSIM data plan so you have an internet connection to share
- Go to "Settings"
- Search for and select "Mobile Hotspot and Tethering"
- Tap "Mobile Hotspot and Tethering"
- Select "Mobile Hotspot"
- Choose the "More options" icon (three dots)
- Tap "Configure Mobile Hotspot"
- This is where you can change the name of your network, hide your device from others, update your hotspot's password, and customize the entire experience
- When you're ready to turn on your Mobile Hotspot, go back to "Mobile Hotspot and Tethering" and toggle "Mobile Hotspot" on
- To allow another device to use your Mobile Hotspot, have the device owner search for nearby Wi-Fi networks and select the name of your device from the list
- Tell them the password to enter to gain access

- On your Home screen, slide your apps up and open "Settings"
- Choose "More"
- Select "Tethering & portable hotspot"
- Toggle "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" on
- Select "Set up Wi-Fi hotspot"
- This is where you can change the name of your network and update your hotspot's password
- Hit "save" when you've finished setting up your portable hotspot
- To allow another device to use your portable hotspot, have the device owner search for nearby Wi-Fi networks and select the name of your device from the list
