How do I install eSIM on my Samsung device?
Ready to install your new aloSIM eSIM on any eSIM-compatible Samsung device?
You can choose between three easy options:
Instant QR code installation
SIM Manager installation (QR code)
SIM Manager installation (Manual)
If you'll be using your Samsung eSIM for international travel, we recommend you install your eSIM while you're still at home (with a steady Wi-Fi or data connection). Then you can prepare your device to activate your data package as soon as you've arrived.
INSTANT QR CODE INSTALLATION:
This is the fastest eSIM installation method for Samsung devices, and it takes less than two minutes from start to finish.
1. Open your aloSIM app and select the eSIM you wish to install
2. Scan the installation QR code and follow the on-screen prompts (see how)
3. Rename your eSIM (see how)
4. Activate your data package when you're ready to use it (see instructions)
SIM MANAGER (QR CODE) INSTALLATION:
This method for Samsung devices involves going into your phone's settings to begin the eSIM installation process. It's useful if you've tried the first installation method but it didn't work.
- Inside your aloSIM app, select the eSIM you wish to install, tap "Install Your eSIM" and choose the "QR Code" installation
- Share the code to another device so you can scan it in a minute, or if you have an Samsung Galaxy S22 or newer, you can now take a screenshot of your QR code
- Go to "Settings" > "Connections" > "SIM card manager"
- Tap "Add eSIM" or "Add mobile plan" and select the QR code option
- Scan the QR code (or tap the photo icon to upload the screenshot of the QR code, if applicable) and confirm the installation
If you encounter an issue during the eSIM installation, please reach out (support@alosim.com) right away so we can help, and DO NOT DELETE your eSIM since eSIMs can only be installed once, on a single device, and eSIMs should not be deleted even after your package expires (because you may want to top it up someday).
ACCESSING YOUR DATA:
Remember, you must be located in your data package's country/region in order to connect to a network. (So don't try to activate a vacation data package if you're still at home, because you won't be able to reach those networks yet.)
If you have previously used a carrier travel plan (daily flat rate for data, calling, and texting on vacation), please contact your carrier and make sure it will not automatically renew when you leave the country.
1. TURN ON YOUR eSIM: Go to "Settings" > "Connections" > "SIM card manager" and make sure your new eSIM is toggled on
(Some Samsung devices may need to choose "Mobile Networks," turn on your eSIM, and enable Mobile Data & Data Roaming.)
2. CHOOSE YOUR eSIM AS YOUR DATA SOURCE: While on "Settings" > "Connections" > "SIM Card manager," and scroll down to “Preferred SIM" (or "Primary SIM").
If you have a phone number you want to keep active, you'll choose your regular SIM under "Calls" and "Messages," and choose aloSIM under "Mobile data."
If you won't be using a phone number, you'll just choose aloSIM new eSIM your Preferred/Primary SIM.
3. TURN ON DATA ROAMING FOR YOUR eSIM: Navigate to "Settings" > "Connections" > "Mobile Networks" and toggle Data Roaming ON. It's important to turn on Data Roaming for your Samsung eSIM, so we can connect you to the best local network. Without this setting on, you won't be able to connect.
4. CHECK YOUR SAMSUNG APN: This may be done automatically, but it's a good idea to navigate to "Settings" > "Connections" > "Mobile Network" > "Access Point Names."
The selected eSIM should say "alosim" in the Name and APN fields.
Does your selected APN show something different? We can show you how to edit it.
- Tap the selected eSIM to edit it
- Put "alosim" in the Name field
- Put "alosim" in the APN field
- Tap the three vertical dots
- Select "Save"
Now your selected APN should be "alosim."
If no APNs appear on your list, select the three vertical dots in the top-right corner, create a new Samsung APN, put "alosim" in the name field and in the APN field, and tap "Save"
5. CHECK YOUR NETWORK SELECTION: This should already be set to "Automatic," so we can pick the best possible support networked. But you can check by going to "Settings" > "Connections" > "Mobile Networks" > "Network operators" > “aloSIM” and making sure "Select automatically" is on.
If you encounter an issue during the eSIM activation, please reach out (support@alosim.com) right away so we can help, and DO NOT DELETE your eSIM since eSIMs can only be installed once, on a single device.
SIM MANAGER (MANUAL) INSTALLATION:
This method for Samsung devices involves going into your phone's settings to manually paste a code that will complete the installation. It's useful if you aren't able to scan a QR code.
- Inside your aloSIM app, select the eSIM you wish to install, tap "Install Your eSIM" and the choose "Manual" installation tab. Copy the SM-DP+ADDRESS & ACTIVATION CODE.
- Go to "Settings" > "Connections" > "SIM card manager" then "Add mobile plan"
- Select "Scan carrier QR code" and then "Enter code instead" so you can paste the copied code.
- When it says "Add the aloSIM plan to your phone?" hit "Add" or "Continue" to complete the installation
If you encounter an issue during the eSIM installation, please reach out (support@alosim.com) right away so we can help, and DO NOT DELETE your eSIM since eSIMs can only be installed once, on a single device.
