It says "Your eSIM has been installed successfully," but I don't have data?
If you've gone through the steps to install your new eSIM, you should see a confirmation that everything has gone smoothly.
"Your eSIM has been installed successfully."
But sometimes new customers see this confirmation message and aren't sure why they don't have data yet. They think "Wait, if my eSIM has been installed, why isn't the data flowing?!"
That's because your eSIM is the connector that allows you to access local networks, but your eSIM data plan is what provides the data.
There are a few important reasons why your data usually won't start immediately after your successful eSIM installation:
1. You aren't in the correct country/region yet.
Since aloSIM data packages usually come in seven-day or 30-day increments, you won't want to begin your countdown to expiration until you're ready to use it.
While it's a good idea to install your eSIM before you leave on your trip, don't activate your data plan until you have arrived at your destination and can actually connect to one of those local networks.
2. You need to check your settings and switch on your data plan.
While certain devices will whiz through an automatic installation that does everything for you (including making sure your APN is properly configured, and making sure your Network Selection is set to "Automatic"), most devices need you to "turn on" your aloSIM data and choose it as your primary source of data.
So when you're ready to start using your aloSIM data, and you're in the correct country/region for the package to work, follow our steps for activating your data plan:
