How do I fix the "Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change" iPhone error?
If you're trying to install an eSIM data plan on an iPhone, you may come across this message ...
Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change
Your cellular plan could not be set up. Try again later.
There are a few potential reasons you're seeing this message, so we'll walk you through the different possibilities and how to solve them ...
The eSIM may have already been installed.
The issue could be that you've topped up an existing eSIM with more data, and you were trying to re-install an eSIM that has already been installed.
But an eSIM can only be installed once, on a single device, and a topped-up eSIM only needs the data activated when you're ready to use it.
It's a good idea to check the existing ICCIDs on your device to make sure it isn't already installed.
You may have installed too many eSIMs.
Depending on your iPhone model and storage, it may be able to hold anywhere from 5-10 eSIMs at once. If you know you've installed at least five eSIMs in the past, this is likely what's causing the "Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change" error message.
Please follow our instructions on removing an old eSIM so you free up a slot to install your new eSIM. (Just make sure it's an old eSIM you won't want to top up in the future, as eSIMs cannot be recovered once they are deleted.)
Your connection may be unstable.
Please check your Wi-Fi or data connection to make sure your connection is strong enough to complete the activation process.
